Hotels are renowned for having some of the most comfortable and welcoming beds with soft, crisp white sheets, along with luxury feeling towels and bathrobes – it’s part of what makes them feel like an indulgence to stay in. Hotel bed linen provides guests with a good night’s sleep and it reflects the image and comfort level of the hotel.
1. Always Use Hotel Quality Sheets.
(1)Choose a bed sheet material that best suits your needs: silk, cotton, linen, poly-cotton blend, microfiber, bamboo, etc.
(2)Pay attention to the thread count on the bed sheet label. Remember inflated higher thread count does not mean that you are getting a better fabric.
(3)Pick a suitable fabric weave for your hotel sheets. Percale and sateen weave are popular with bed sheets.
(4)Know the right bed sheet size so that your sheets fit perfectly on your bed.
2. Clean Hotel Bedding The Right Way.
The first wash is the most important wash. It sets the threads, which helps preserve the fabric—keeping your sheets looking new for as long as possible.Washing them before using removes excess fibres, factory finishes, and ensures a better first experience. For best results, unfold and wash separately using a warm or cold setting with half the recommended detergent. Always wash whites separately from colours.
3.Understand the cleaning requirements and precautions for hotel bedding.
By reading all labels on your bed sheets. And taking note of any specific cleaning requirements.
That includes:
(1)The right washing cycle to use
(2)The ideal method to use to dry your bed sheets
(3)The right ironing temperature to use
(4)When to use a cold or hot wash or in between
(5)When to use or avoid bleach
4. Sort Hotel Sheets Before Washing.
(1)Degree of soiling: Soiled sheets should be washed separately, on a longer wash cycle, from less soiled sheets
(2)Color shade: Dark sheets may fade, so they should be washed separately from white and light-colored sheets
(3)Fabric type: Finer fabrics like silk should be washed separately from other sheets made from less sensitive fabrics like polyester
(4)Item size: Mix large and small items together for better washing. Typical examples include washing hotel sheets, pillowcases, and mattress pads together
(5)Fabric weight: Heavier bedding like blankets and duvets should be washed separately from lighter fabrics like sheets
5.Use the Best Water, Detergent & Temperature
(1)Regarding temperature, it is generally recommended that you wash bedding and towels at 40-60℃, as this temperature is high enough to kill all germs. Washing at 40℃ is slightly gentler on fabrics, as excessive heat can damage yarns, but it is important to use a high-quality detergent at the same time to ensure a thorough clean. Invest in a detergent that is biodegradable and phosphate-free to stay environmentally friendly.
(2)It is best to use soft water rather than hard water, as this will make the detergent more effective and keep your linens feeling soft after every wash.
6.Fold and Rest
It is important that once you have washed your sheets, you do not immediately return them to your room to be used again. Instead, fold them neatly and let them sit for at least 24 hours.
Leaving your sheets to sit in this way allows them to “condition”, giving the cotton time to reabsorb the water after drying and develop a pressed look – just like luxury hotel bedding.
